The Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to study the immunological aspects of radiation exposures in the laboratory of Dr. Schaue. The assigned NIH-funded project is focused on understanding myeloid cell biology after whole body and partial body radiation exposures and on dissecting the link to late tissue damage. This position requires a Ph.D. in biology, radiation biology, immunology or a related field with good English communications kills. Experience in immunological assays such as ELISAs, ELISPOT, RNAseq, and flow cytometry are preferred.
Specific Responsibilities include: study design, data acquisition & analysis, literature review and manuscript preparation and presentation at national and international meetings; helping to supervise graduate and undergraduate student researchers and assisting with the preparation of grant proposals.
Additional Duties: Ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and effectively; Ability to work independently on scientific projects; Required to communicate well with other scientists worldwide; The candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator and a Senior Project Scientist and will successfully carry out experiments and analyze the data generated with minimal supervision.
