Postdoctoral position in Cancer Systems Biology at UCSF Full-time
The Ramani and Gordan labs at UCSF are looking for a talented and engaged scientist to lead a collaborative project studying signaling regulation in the integrated stress response and its impact on cellular transcription.
The Gordan lab uses chemical genetics to enable cancer target discovery with quantitative proteomics and functional genetics, and has developed small molecule activators of the LKB1 tumor suppressor which we are currently using to interrogate its signaling function in cancer. The Ramani lab develops and uses high-throughput sequencing techniques to study gene regulation in normal and disease states, and has investigated signal integration in the response to nutrient depletion and other stresses. Both PIs are early career investigators in the dynamic environment of the Quantitative Biosciences Institute at UCSF Mission Bay, and both labs have strong infrastructures for systems biology assessments and computational analysis.
Applicants from a variety of backgrounds would be welcome, but experience with wet lab experimental science is required; experience with bioinformatic analytical pipelines, or a willingness to learn basic bioinformatics skills will be preferred. Successful candidates must have a PhD and/or MD in a related discipline and be independent, motivated and value working in teams, with demonstrated success in project management and leadership.
