Multiple postdoctoral positions are available immediately for self-motivated researchers interested in central mechanism(s) responsible for cardiorespiratory adaptations in health and disease. Selected individuals will join the NIH-funded laboratory of Dr. David D. Kline that evaluates the plasticity of brainstem neurons and glia, and the effects of acute and chronic hypoxia on central regulation of breathing and blood pressure.
We are seeking candidates that have experience in or are seeking to learn in vivo rodent (rats and mice) measurements, including conscious chronically instrumented animals, in vivo CNS microinjections, single- and multi-unit brainstem neuron or peripheral nerve recording, photometry, as well as manipulation of these cells and central pathways via chemo- and optogenetics.
We are also seeking individuals with experience in or that wish to learn in vitro brain slice and isolated cell electrophysiology, opto- and chemo-genetics and live cellular imaging.
Ideally the successful applicant will have an interest in central autonomic regulation and a desire to broaden their expertise. Candidates must have a PhD, MD or comparable doctoral degree; prior training in neuroscience, cardiovascular and/or respiratory regulation is highly desirable but not necessary. Salary commensurate with experience and NIH guidelines.
Interested candidates should forward inquiries, along with a CV, and contact information for three references to David Kline, PhD, at KlineDD@missouri.edu
