The Zhou Lab at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (https://www.uab.edu/engineering/bme/people/faculty/yang-zhou) is seeking for highly motivated and passionate postdoctoral research fellows to join our new and supportive group. We have just received new NIH funding and have several ongoing projects to investigate how the transcriptional factors regulate cell fate conversion using state-of-the-art genomic approaches (single cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag-seq, etc.). Candidates are expected to perform integrative bioinformatics analyses using multiple genomic data we have generated, write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, engage in ongoing collaborations, and help to train and mentor lab personnel. There are also abundant opportunities for collaboration with other groups at UAB, and at other institutions. Interested candidates are encouraged to read our recent publications: Cell stem cell 2019, 25 (1), 149-164. e9; Circulation 2020, 141 (21), 1720-1723; Nature 2017, 551 (7678), 100-104; Cell reports 2017, 20 (13), 3014-3024; Cell stem cell 2016, 18 (3), 382-395; Cancer cell 2016, 30 (1), 92-107.
Applicants are required to have an M.D. or Ph.D. in biological science or computational biology and substantial experience conducting independent research, with at least one first author publication in an internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals. Prior experience in bioinformatics is highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates with in-depth training in research involving next-generation sequencing technologies and bioinformatic analyses. Stipend will be commensurate with experience.
Please email a cover letter with a brief description of your research background and interests along with your CV and contact information of three references to Dr. Yang Zhou (email@example.com).
