Recruiting top PhD students and postdocs in Bordeaux to explore the extracellular space of the brain
Are you intrigued by one of the great and last frontiers in neuroscience? Thanks to an ERC Synergy Award received by the teams of L. Groc, E. Bézard, L. Cognet and V. Nägerl in Bordeaux, we are launching a mission deep into the extracellular space of the brain: how it is structured at the nanoscale level and how it governs molecule dynamics and cell-to-cell communication in the healthy and diseased brain, using a battery of advanced investigation tools, in particular based on high-resolution optical microscopy, and model systems. It is a fiercely multidisciplinary and collaborative project calling for geeks and freaks who are terminally enthusiastic about optical-, nano-, neuro-technologies to name a few, and brain science. Mission headquarters will be a new joint ‘OpenLab’ set up at the Neurocampus of Bordeaux (https://www.bordeaux-neurocampus.fr/en/).
Your qualifications (for PhD and postdoc positions)?
We are looking for candidates with i) a master degree (for PhD application) or PhD (for postdoc application) in neuroscience, biophysics, optics, engineering or computer sciences, ii) a strong publication record (for postdoc candidates), iii) exceptional motivation and stamina, and iv) strong social and communication skills.
How to apply?
Email i) a cover letter explaining your research training and interests, ii) your detailed CV, and iii) at least two reference letters to:
· Laurent Groc (laurent.groc@u-bordeaux.fr),
· Erwan Bézard (erwan.bezard@u-bordeaux.fr)
· Laurent Cognet (laurent.cognet@u-bordeaux.fr)
· Valentin Nägerl (valentin.nagerl@u-bordeaux.fr).
