The Department of Pediatrics (http://www.pediatrics.ucsd.edu) and the Systems Biology and Cell Engineering Lab at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and are seeking an assistant, associate for full project scientist.
The Project Scientist will be expected to conduct independent research in collaboration, as well as working on existing and new research programs in the group. In addition, the project scientist will work on the application of computational systems glycobiology approaches and complex multi-omic integration methods to investigate physiologically relevant links between metabolites, lipids, glycans and metabolic disease to predict clinical outcomes. In addition to research, the position requires publication of research results, presentation at conferences, and attendance in a postdoctoral glycobiology training program, grant writing, and submission of research reports to sponsors.
Candidates must have a PhD in nutritional biology or metabolism and have at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience.
Candidates must have evidence of collaborative research, research with clinical data, and programming experience in Python and/or R. Candidates must also have a background in clinical and multivariate statistics, machine learning, carbohydrate, lipid and energy metabolism, clinical and metabolic nutrition, and have experience with IRB and human subjects research regulations.
Candidates with a demonstrated ability to obtain funding are preferred.
Appointment will be at Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level based on background and experience.
