Passionate about discovering how human milk bioactives shape intestinal cell biology, physiology, and pathology? – Join our powerful team at UC San Diego MOMI CORE!
A postdoctoral position is available immediately within the Mother-Milk-Infant Center of Research Excellence (MOMI CORE) at the University of California, San Diego. The cross-disciplinary research program aims to better understand how various human milk bioactives – either alone or in concert with microbes – impact intestinal function and physiology with the ultimate goal of improving the health and development of infants as well as people of all ages.
This new postdoctoral position is open to applicants with extensive laboratory experience who would be able to employ cutting-edge molecular and cellular approaches to investigation of intestinal health and development.
The MOMI CORE Postdoc will perform complex in vitro experiments using murine and human organoid culture models and work with conventional, gnotobiotic and humanized in vivo models. Preference will be given to graduates with a strong history of research in current cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques including, 2D and 3D organoid culture, Western blotting, qPCR, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry.
Successful candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic team, possess strong oral and written communication skills in English, a highly collaborative spirit, and a strong publication record. Recent graduates from GI physiology and translational science fields may be
particularly suited for this opportunity.
With UC San Diego’s rich interactive resources, embedded in the La Jolla Mesa’s broad scientific communities spanning numerous private research institutes and biotech/pharma companies, the environment for postdoctoral training is unparalleled. Our labs are housed in a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility with access to many core services and endless opportunities for collaboration and break-through discoveries.
Inquiries and Applications including a curriculum vitae, brief statement summarizing past accomplishments and future research interests as well as contact information for two references should be sent to MOMI CORE Director Dr. Lars Bode at firstname.lastname@example.org.
