Postdoctoral Position in Stress Neuroendocrinology @ UC San Diego Full-time
Position Description:
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to study the molecular and neural mechanisms controlling reproduction, and other homeostatic responses, altered in response to stress using mouse models. The position is fully-funded for at least three years; salary commensurate with UC Salary Scale for Postdoctoral Fellows (https://postdoc.ucsd.edu/).
Lab Description:
The Breen Church lab is a collaborative and supportive training environment with opportunity to use state-of-the-art chemogenic, genetic, and neuroanatomical manipulations to understand how stress-activated pathways interfere with the neural centers controlling reproductive function. In addition, the lab provides opportunities to develop new methods and research interests, mentor junior lab members and undergraduates, expand scientific writing/communication skills and gain prominence and promotion within the neuroendocrinology field. The Breen Church lab interacts regularly with our reproductive neuroendocrine colleagues as well as collaborators with expertise in metabolism, epigenetics/transcriptomics, and neural circuit modulation.
Required Qualifications:
- Recent PhD degree with training in neurobiology, neuroendocrinology, molecular biology or related fields
- Self-motivated, evidence of scholarly record, and welcoming of a collaborative environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills:
- Experience with neuroanatomy
- Experience with histological techniques
- Experience with microinjection and/or stereotactic skills.
