A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in Dr. Matilda Chan’s laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco. Our group has a basic and translational research program that studies molecular mechanisms that lead to corneal diseases, including Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy and corneal fibrosis. This is an NIH funded position to evaluate the role of molecular chaperones as a therapeutic strategy for corneal diseases in collaboration with Dr. Jason Gestwicki’s laboratory at UCSF. Methodology we are employing include chemical and genetic screening assays, cell and molecular biology, and confocal microscopy.
We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative scientist. Prior experience with cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, and bioinformatics is strongly desired. Requirements include a recent PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree, a solid publication record, strong written/verbal English communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. A 2-year minimum commitment is required. Per university policy, the salary follows the current NIH/NRSA pay scale and an additional housing allowance is provided.
The highly collaborative and stimulating environment at UCSF provides an excellent postdoctoral training experience. The vision science group in the UCSF Department of Ophthalmology is very interactive and includes a fellow training program that is focused on mentorship, networking, and career development.
