The Mukherjee Laboratory at the University of California, Santa Barbara develops molecular reporters for imaging biological processes noninvasively with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join our research group and work with a team of highly interdisciplinary researchers on a variety of biomedically oriented projects involving molecular neuroimaging, biochemical imaging of the mammalian gut, and directed evolution of erasable reporter genes for background-free MRI. Our long-term goals involve unraveling molecular mechanisms underlying a gamut of complex biological processes ranging from brain function in neuropsychiatric conditions to gut physiology in inflammation. The successful candidate will have flexibility in the choice of projects and will benefit from an extensive network of collaborators and cutting-edge research facilities, including the Center for BioEngineering and the Neuroscience Research Institute. Experience in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, and in vivo experiments with rodents (in particular, intracranial surgery, viral gene delivery, tail vein administration procedures, histology) is preferred. Interested candidates should send their Curriculum Vitae and a 1-page statement of research interests & career goals to Prof. Arnab Mukherjee (email@example.com). Questions and informal inquiries are welcome.
