A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the lab of Dr. Mark Moehle at the University of Florida College of Medicine Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegeneration. This position can also be created as a staff position. The lab studies the motor and non-motor symptoms of movement disorders. Currently we have funded projects to understand the mechanisms behind how mutations in GNAL lead to dystonia, M5 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor regulation of dopamine release and signaling, M4 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor regulation of motor symptoms, and cholinergic control of dementia phenotypes in models of alpha-synuclein linked dementias. We employ a wide variety of behavioral, electrophysiological, fiber photometry, and molecular techniques to interrogate our questions.
The ideal candidate would have experience in any of the above techniques, and have graduated with a PhD in the last year. Visa sponsorship is possible.
The Moehle Lab is a growing and productive group of scientists. We are dedicated to the success, training, and development of each lab member. UF is a phenomenal place to train, and there are many unique opportunities for post-docs at UF, including a dedicated support office and career development opportunities. There is also a large group of trainees specifically dedicated to neurodegenerative research in the CTRND.
