The Green and Morgan Laboratories (directed by Michael Green, MD, PhD and Meredith Morgan, PhD) within the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Rogel Cancer Center at Michigan Medicine is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and curious scientist. We are looking for staff scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and research technicians. Research in the Green and Morgan Labs is focused on understanding and harnessing the determinants of inflammation to enhance cancer therapy. Currently, we study how DNA damage and lipid damage modulate innate and adaptive immune responses in cancer. Further, we study how immune peripheral tolerance mechanisms control antitumor immunity.
Postdoctoral associates are expected to develop new research avenues in collaboration with the PI and contribute to existing projects in the lab. The lab is trainee-centered and surrounded by diverse expertise in the department. The University of Michigan has a highly top 10 cancer center and located in beautiful Ann Arbor, Michigan. The candidate will work with a collaborative interdisciplinary team, an enthusiastic mentor and a supportive department to maximize productivity and success. Co-mentorship opportunities are also available.
A Ph.D. focused on one of the following broad areas: biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, or cell biology.
– At least two published or “in preparation” papers
– Technical knowledge of modern research methods, data collection, and analysis.
– Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
– Excellent oral and written communication skills
– Highly organized
– Experience with methods in genomics, proteomics, molecular biology, immunology, cell biology, or biochemistry are preferred, but not required.
For full consideration, a curriculum vitae, letter of application summarizing your research interests, goals, and three letters of reference should be emailed to Dr. Michael Green (firstname.lastname@example.org). Graduate students preparing their dissertations and those who belong to underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
