A full-time post-doctoral position at the interface of Organic and Nucleic Acids Chemistries is available at the University of Montpellier (Institute of Biomolecules Max Mousseron, Team ChemBioNAC).
The successful candidate will be involved in a collaborative project between ChemBioNAC team (head Prof. Michaël Smietana) and the “Nucleic acids group” (head Dr. Jory Lietard) of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Vienna (Austria). The aim of the project is to develop a new generation of RNA arrays. For this, the candidate will develop two new sets of ribonucleoside phosphoramidites for RNA array production with faster coupling times, increased photosensitivity and milder deprotection strategies, and thus to access long RNA oligonucleocleotides of high quality in short synthesis times. Incorporation of these phosphoramidites into RNA arrays will be done using in situ photolithography. RNA microarrays will be prepared for on and off-surface applications, from the study of the fluorigenic properties of a specific RNA aptamer to the direct sequencing of RNA libraries on a Nanopore instrument.
The work will be conducted under the supervision of the project manager (Dr. F. Debart) whose research projects mainly deal with the chemistry of RNA and its applications (epitranscriptomics, emerging viruses, RNA arrays).
Profile required: Ph.D. in organic chemistry. The ideal candidate will have to demonstrate a strong background in organic synthesis and knowledge in chemistry of nucleosides and/or nucleic acids will be an advantage. In addition, the candidate should have good communication skills and report writing.
