The Truman laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at UNC Charlotte employs a range of molecular technologies including mass spectrometry, CRISPR-genome engineering and high-throughput screening to study the interplay between Hsp70 and cell signaling (please see: www.trumanlab.org). We are seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral researchers, one with a strong background in ATM/ATR signaling in mammalian cells and the other with either expertise in cell cycle/DNA damage response/MAPK signaling expertise in budding yeast.
NIH Funding is available for 4 years, with the expectation that the candidate will work with Dr. Truman to apply for fellowships during this time. Ideal candidates will have graduated less than 1 year from their start date in the Truman lab. To apply please apply to Dr. Truman at atruman1@uncc.edu stating the position you are applying for and your relevant experience. Please attach a CV.
Required qualifications
For the ATM/ATR related project:
· Ph. D in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology or related field.
· Experience with general molecular techniques such as Western Blotting, DNA cloning, co-immunoprecipitation and technologies used to understand phosphorylation events in cells.
· Experience with mammalian cell culture including passaging of cells, transfection, protein expression and purification from mammalian cells. Experience with CRISPR is a bonus.
· Detailed understanding of DNA damage response signaling in mammalian cells.
For the yeast Hsp70/signaling project:
· Ph. D in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field.
· Experience with general molecular techniques such as Western Blotting, DNA cloning, co-immunoprecipitation and technologies used to understand phosphorylation events in cells.
· Must have experience with budding yeast including gene deletion, transformation, protein expression and purification from yeast.
· Detailed understanding of either cell cycle, DNA damage response/MAPK signaling in yeast cells.
