The McCall laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma (http://mccall-lab.oucreate.com/) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to participate in our research on metabolomics of host-microbe interactions. Work in the McCall lab focuses on applying cutting-edge mass spectrometry technologies to identify molecular changes associated with disease progression and outcome, in model systems and in patient samples. The ultimate goal of our work is to redefine methods for patient diagnosis and staging, and to provide new target pathways for drug development. The successful candidate will have experience with mouse models of infectious disease, biosafety level 2 mouse handling and biosafety level 2 cell culture experience, and a successful publication track record. Hands-on mass spectrometry experience is a plus, but not required. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field, with an interest in expanding their skillset to learn metabolomics approaches. The University of Oklahoma is a R01 public research university known for excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. The Research Campus in Norman was named the number one research campus in the nation by the Association of Research Parks in 2013. Norman is a culturally rich and vibrant community located just outside Oklahoma City. With outstanding schools, amenities, and a low cost of living, Norman is often cited in “best places to live” rankings. The greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area has a population of over 1.25 million residents and offers all the culture, dining, entertainment, and amenities typical of a modern metropolis.
