Postdoctoral fellowship positions are available in the Figeys laboratory at the Ottawa Institute of Systems Biology, University of Ottawa, Canada. The selected candidates will be involved in projects on multi-omic studies of the human gut microbiota, and drug-microbe and host-microbe interactions. Dr. Figeys laboratory and its close collaborators already have well-established technical and bioinformatic platforms for performing proteomics/metaproteomics, metabolomics, metagenomics and metatranscriptomics studies. State-of-the art and project-relevant instruments installed in the labs include several high-resolution mass spectrometers (LTQ Velos Obitrap Elite, Q Exactive, Exploris, etc.) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography and two next-generation sequencers (Ion torrent PGM and Ion Proton Sequencer). The involved postdoctoral fellows will collaborate closely, while each will focus on one aspect of the projects. They will also intensely interact with multi-disciplinary teams including biochemistry, microbiology and clinical teams.
For more information about the Figeys laboratory, please see:
• Recent PhD degree in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or related;
• Experience in one or more of the following areas/techniques is preferred: gut microbiota, batch or continuous cultivation, anaerobic bacterial culturing/fermentation, next-generation sequencing (NGS), mass spectrometry, and large-scale -omic data analysis;
• Good communication and teamwork.
