I am looking for talented scientists and engineers to join my Synthetic Physiology Lab (https://www.syntheticphysiologylab.com/) at the University of Pavia in Italy. Traditional synthetic biologists use DNA parts to program cell function: we want to use extracellular matrix (ECM) components to control tissue function. Our first goal is to reverse engineer human heart development in a project funded by the European Research Council and entitled “Synthetic Matrix Biology: Designer matrices to program healthy and diseased myocardial morphogenesis.”
For this project, I am looking for experts in mechanobiology. The ideal candidate will have experience working with 2D and 3D cell cultures as well as with the microscopy and data analysis techniques required for assessing cellular forces (e.g., traction force microscopy). A background in materials science, polymer chemistry, and/or extracellular matrix biology is desirable. Similarly, experience with stem cells, epi/endothelial cells, organoids, or in-vivo models of morphogenesis is welcome.
I am looking for candidates who have completed a relevant Ph.D. program and have published at least one peer-reviewed paper as the main author. If you are about to graduate, that is fine too. Being able to clearly communicate in English (written, spoken) is a requirement. Based on your experience, I can offer appointments at various seniority levels and with competitive salaries. You will work in a multidisciplinary group with biologists and computational scientists and have access to modern facilities and equipment in the lab as well as at the University core facilities (for example https://cgs.unipv.it/eng/?page_id=80 and http://fornerislab.unipv.it/armenise_lab/PassBioMed-PV/index.php#instruments).
If this opportunity feels like something you can make a positive contribution towards, or if you know somehow who might, please email me at email@example.com. I would like to have the position filled by the end of 2020 but I can be flexible with a start-date.
Thank you for your interest in our work, and I look forward to hearing from you.
