We are seeking to recruit two postdoctoral fellows (wet – experimental, dry – computational or hybrid) to work at the intersection of single-cell genomics, epigenetics and stem cell biology under the supervision of Dr. Hao Wu (https://www.med.upenn.edu/apps/faculty/index.php/p8878781) in the Department of Genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Our group investigates transcription control and epigenetic regulation by developing high-precision epigenomics (single-nucleotide resolution), single-cell multi-omics (gene expression/chromatin accessibility/DNA methylation) or temporal-omics (metabolic labeling single-cell RNA-seq) methods. Our long-term goal is to use knowledge gained from quantitative and high-precision single-cell genomics technologies to identify biomarkers and to enhance stem cell therapy for treating human heart and neurodegenerative diseases.
Our laboratory is part of Penn Epigenetics Institute and Penn Institute of Regenerative Medicine. The University of Pennsylvania provides an outstanding environment for postdoctoral training. Our colleagues include world-class basic scientists and physicians. There are abundant opportunities for collaboration with other groups at Penn, and at other institutions.
Qualifications:
We aspire to create a diverse, stimulating, and collaborative lab environment. Candidates must have a collegial attitude, determination and excellent communication skills.
– A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D.) in the biological science or computational biology with experience conducting independent research.
– At least one first-author publication in peer-reviewed journals.
– The candidate for dry lab position is required to be proficient in Linux and one programming language (R or Python). Experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing or single-cell genomics data is preferred but not required.
– The candidate for wet lab position is required to have excellent biochemistry and molecular biology skills. Experience with next generation sequencing is preferred but not required.
If you are interested in our lab, please email a cover letter with a brief description of your research background and interests along with your CV and contact information of three references to Hao Wu, Ph.D. at haowu2@pennmedicine.upenn.edu.
