Drs. Kathryn Wellen (University of Pennsylvania) and Nathaniel Snyder (Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University) are seeking a postdoctoral fellow for a unique co-mentored position between the two laboratories. The fellow will engage in research related to the ongoing productive collaboration between the two laboratories in acyl-coenzyme A metabolism in fundamental biology, cancer, and metabolic diseases. Specific opportunities to develop and expand projects involving intra-organelle communication via acyl-CoA metabolites are available.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences. A strong grounding in cell biology and molecular biology is required. Ideally, the candidate should have some experience with quantitative liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry applied to biological specimens (but this is not a pre-requisite). Demonstrated scientific writing skills and successful ability to pursue funding will be considered favorably. Ability and desire to bring new skills as well as diversity in thought, background, and training to the laboratory will also be considered favorably.
The fellow will be given opportunities to train junior staff and students in research methods, and to attend and present their data across both host universities as well as national and/or international conferences. Cover letter, 1 page research statement, and CV should be sent to NateWSnyder@temple.edu.
