Postdoctoral Fellow Full-time
The Herting Laboratory within the Department of Preventive Medicine and the Division of Environmental Health is in search of a postdoc fellow with expertise in big data, biostatistics/epidemiology, and/or advanced MRI analytic methods. The position involves contribution to design, analyses, and leadership in interpretation and writing of how environmental risk factors, including air pollution, relates to longitudinal changes in brain development across adolescence using multi-modal MRI datasets, including those collected as part of larger national efforts, such as the NIH Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study [abcdstudy.org].
Requirements – PhD in epidemiology, statistics, neuroscience, engineering, or related field – Strong computational/engineering background – Skilled in coding (i.e. R, Python, Bash, and/or MATLAB). Previous experience in studying air pollution and child health outcomes, statistical knowledge of linear mixed effects (LME) and general additive modeling (GAMM), as well as multi-pollutant and distributed lag modeling highly desired.
Postdoctoral fellows also have access to a strong career development programs for junior investigators through our SCEHSC Center and the SC-CTSI. Our lab has strong collaborations with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
