A joint postdoctoral training position at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas Texas is available in the laboratories of Mark Henkemeyer and Helen Lai in the Department of Neuroscience and Hesham Sadek in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology to focus on the synaptic EphB1 receptor implicated in chronic pain and opioid use disorder. Our laboratories have formed a highly collaborative multidisciplinary research program centered on the development of novel small molecular weight drug-like compounds that target EphB1 with potential utility for the treatment of pain and addiction (see for example doi: 10.1073/pnas.2016265118). We are looking for an individual who has working knowledge of rodent models of chronic/neuropathic pain and will use those skills to investigate the in vivo therapeutic potential of the drug compounds under development.
