Research Assistant/Lab Manager – Wang Lab Full-time
Position Description
A research assistant/lab manager position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Lu Wang in the Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology at UT Health San Antonio. We are investigating epigenetic regulation in aging and age-related diseases, with a focus on understanding the regulation of three-dimensional genome organization, DNA and histone modifications. We employ state-of-art techniques in biochemistry, molecular biology, multi-omics technologies, and genetically engineered mouse models. Position Responsibilities
As a research assistant, you will provide routine support to research projects under general supervision. You will be responsible for assisting or conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating and interpreting data for scientific research.
Job duties:
· Provide technical assistance in performing assigned tasks to support research projects.
· Performs assigned clerical and technical duties in a research lab setting.
· Assists investigator or higher level technician with research studies, experiments and assays including collecting data, preparing solutions, and setting up and maintaining equipment.
· Perform routine tests under the direction of the supervisor, manager or higher level technician.
· Assist in conducting a variety of scientific experiments and research projects of limited complexity, collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data.
· Carry out general laboratory maintenance duties.
· Perform any other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a basic science is required. Candidates with prior experience in mouse work, molecular biology, cell biology or related areas will be given preference.
