Two postdoctoral training positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Yingfei Wang (https://profiles.utsouthwestern.edu/profile/155567/yingfei-wang.html) in the Departments of Pathology and Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study 1) DNA damage/oxidative stress/mitochondrial dysfunction-induced neurodegeneration and neuronal cell death in aging-related neurological diseases (Wang Y et al., Science, 2016; Liu S et al., Molecular Neurodegeneration, 2021) and 2) DNA damage, PARP activation and nuclease functions in cell death/growth regulation in cancer cells (Wang Y et al., Nature Communications 2021; Wang Y et al., Cancer Res. 2020 a,b; Chen Y et al., J Clin Invest. 2018;). Our goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms of DNA damage and oxidative stress-induced PARP-1-dependent cell death (PARthanatos) in neurons and cancer cells. Additional information can be found on our lab website, http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/labs/wang-yingfei/.
The Wang laboratory is well equipped for in vitro biochemical/molecular/cellular studies and in vivo animal studies in neuroscience and cancer biology. UT Southwestern has been ranked as one of the best medical and graduate schools and one of the top NIH-funded institutes in medical science for research, with 6 Nobel Laureates, 22 members of the National Academy of Sciences, and 16 members of the National Academy of Medicine.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in biological science or other related disciplines. Experience in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology or cancer research leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals is recommended.
Postdoctoral fellows receive competitive salaries (starting from $52,704/year) following NIH standard. Information on our postdoctoral training program and benefits can be found in our Postdoc Handbook or at http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/postdocs.
Interested individuals should send a CV, statement of interests, and a list of three references to:
