The Hiebert lab in the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is recruiting two postdoctoral fellows interested in using chemical-genetic approaches to define transcriptional networks that drive cancer development. This approach uses CRISPR and homology directed DNA repair to modify the endogenous loci of transcriptional regulators to enable the use of small molecules to degrade these factors (see Stengel et al., Molecular Cell, 2021). This rapid protein targeting, when coupled with the analysis of nascent transcription, identifies direct transcription factor targets, promotes the elucidation of novel transcriptional mechanisms, and provides fundamental therapeutic insights. Furthermore, the addition of epitope tags enables proteomic analysis of transcription factor complexes and super resolution imaging methods. Our projects provide extensive training in cancer biology, molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. The Vanderbilt University School of Medicine has exceptional core facilities that will enable rapid progress, and this is a great opportunity for a postdoc to lead and drive one or more of these projects. Vanderbilt University is situated near downtown Nashville, which is one of the fastest growing cities in the US. Nashville is a national tourist destination for live music and great food, which creates a vibrant nightlife and a fun living environment, while remaining an affordable community in which to raise a family. Required Qualifications: 1) Ph.D. in genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, cancer biology or related field 2) Excellent written and oral communication skills 3) U.S citizen or permanent resident Desired Qualifications (one or more): 1) Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 and cell culture 2) Experience with genomic approaches (RNAseq, ChIPseq or similar) 3) Knowledge of cell and molecular biology 4) Experience working with large datasets 5) Knowledge of programming (e.g., R or Python) 6) Experience with mouse handling and physiology Application Materials: 1) Cover Letter detailing previous research and interest in our lab (1 page max) 2) Curriculum Vitae 3) Names and contact information of three academic references To apply, please send a single PDF that contains a cover letter, detailed CV, and names of 3 references to email@example.com. This position is immediately available, but applications will continue to be accepted and considered until the job is filled/closed.
