Postdoc Position to study plant stress responses at the School of Biological Sciences at Washington State University
The Laboratory of Dr. Cecilia Rodriguez-Furlan in the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) at Washington State University (WSU) is recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral fellow interested in endomembrane trafficking and plant stress responses. This position is supported for 1 year with an extension of up to 3 years.
Research:
Food and energy crops face increasingly challenging growth conditions that constrain development and negatively impact yield. At the cellular level, plants overcome stress by directing rapid degradation of key components through endocytic and autophagic processes. Balancing these two pathways is crucial for cell survival. Our lab employs molecular, and cell biology approaches to understand these two pathways, including proteomics, genetics, advanced microscopy, and bioinformatics.
Qualifications:
• Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Plant Science, molecular biology, or relevant discipline
• Strong experience in cell and molecular biology
• Familiarity working with Arabidopsis thaliana.
• Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English are expected.
• Previous experience in confocal microscopy, gateway cloning, and proteomics is advantageous.
• Successful candidate will be expected to work independently and collaboratively in the lab between collaborating labs
Research environment: SBS faculty work in diverse research fields, including physiology, organismal and evolutionary biology, population and ecological genetics, systematics, ecology, development, and reproduction. Plant science research in SBS is central to the larger plant science community across WSU. There are more than 80 plant research faculty at WSU from at least eight departments spanning multiple colleges.
