Research in the Girgenti lab is directed at determining the molecular pathologies underlying stress disorders such post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depressive disorder (MDD), and suicidal behavior. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated postdoctoral researcher to take a key role in planning and executing experiments identifying functional genomic elements of neuropsychiatric disorders in human postmortem brain tissue by using single cell gene expression and chromatin approaches, RNAscope, ChIP-seq and HiC assays. Major projects in the lab include translational neuroscience projects designed to derive biological meaning from large-scale genomic findings and postmortem genomic approaches to dissect epigenetic and cell-type-specific regulatory elements underlying the genetics of stress-related mental disorders. Trainee-led projects are also encouraged, and there are ample opportunities for growth in the lab and at Yale. We have world class collaborations locally, nationally, and abroad to support an exciting and rich training experience. Please reach out if you have any questions.
· A Ph.D. and relevant research experience in neuroscience or related fields (e.g. molecular biology).
· Highly organized and extremely reliable.
· Prior experience working with postmortem brain tissue and genomic assays such as RNA- and ATAC-seq, RNAscope (or equivalent FISH assay). Special consideration for candidates with experience in single cell type genomics assays.
Please send an email with your CV, contact information for 3 references, and cover letter to: Dr. Matt Girgenti (firstname.lastname@example.org) using the subject line: Postdoctoral applicant: Your name. Applicants are encouraged to outline research projects of interest.
