The Department of Pharmacy (IFF) at Uppsala University has an interdisciplinary environment at the center of the pharmaceutical arena. With frontline research, first-rate education and extensive collaborations we constitute an important driving force in the development of our academic field. IFF has approximately 150 employees and a turnover of nearly 180 million SEK. In this inspiring environment our rich diversity of research groups, several of international prominence, develop and conduct work of great scientific importance. Among our core competences are computational modelling and simulations, PKPD, in vitro ADME models, advanced in vivo methods, development of biological medicines, as well as patient and societal aspects, from optimizing the use of drugs in individuals to societal pharmaceutical policies. Together, we form a unique cluster of academic competences within pharmaceutical science, playing a key role in shaping the future of pharmacy in both Sweden and globally.
Our scientific focus areas in selection: • Biologics • Clinical Pharmacy • Drug Delivery • Molecular Pharmaceutics • Pharmaceutics and Nanotechnology• Pharmacometrics • Pharmacodynamics • Pharmacokinetics • Pharmacoeconomics • Pharmacoepidemiology • Pharmacotherapy • Social Pharmacy
The research of this project focuses on targeted therapeutics aiming at the development of new drug modalities, such as peptide and protein drug design and antibody conjugates. The project has a certain focus in developing new drug modalities for treatment of prostate cancer. The focus will be on translational research combining immunoterapeutics and drug conjugate technologies.
The candidate should have a degree at an advanced level or equivalent within engineering, biotechnology, chemistry or pharmacy and a PhD degree in technology, chemistry, medicine, pharmaceuticals or pharmacy. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Priority will be given to applicants who have completed their degree no more than three years before the deadline for applications. In special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.
The candidate should have documented experience from working with protein- and/or peptide based pharmaceuticals as well as experience from lipid based formulations and/or protein drug conjugates. The competence should be strengthened by scientific publications within the area or by at least three years of relevant industrial experience. The application should show completed courses and project experiences within biopharmaceuticals.
Experience within immunotherapy, antibody- and protein conjugates and work with antibodies and proteins from a therapeutical perspective is meritorious. Documented experience from radiopharmaceutical conjugates or lipid formulations with a focus on prostate cancer or other solid tumors is particularly preferable. Documented ability to acquire new relevant laboratory technologies within the area as well as experience from development of biopharmaceuticals. Experience from data analysis in FlowJo, Kaluza and GraphPad and from data packages for in silico design from pharmaceuticals. Experience from structured and thorough documentation from laboratory work is also desirable. Translational experience, where preclinical results have been transferred to clinical application, is an advantageous. It is also an advantage if you have applied for and received competitive research funding.
The employment is a temporary position, 2 years with possible prolongation of 1 year according to central collective agreement. Scope of employment 100%. Starting date 1 August 2026 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
