Assistant Director Of Science

This position meets the need for leadership in the expansion of OnRamps science courses. This position will report to the Director of Instructional Innovation and Implementation.

Responsibilities include:

• Applies standard evaluation procedures to analyze data and monitor, evaluate, and document course, student, and instructor outcomes.
• Ensures the development of a facilitated network of OnRamps instructors.
• Leads ongoing implementation and facilitation of the OnRamps Professional Learning year-long cycle.
• Leads OnRamps course staff to successfully support OnRamps instructors in implementing courses.
• Utilizes adult learning and cognitive learning science theories to contribute to course development.
• Leads projects that impact OnRamps as an organizational unit.

Required qualifications include:

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, science education or closely related field.
• Experience leading teams to meet goals and strategic outcomes.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to lay audiences.
• Demonstrated understanding of high school teaching and learning.
• Proficient in Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) or another LMS.
• Five years of clinical or teaching experience at a high school or college level.
• Experience providing support or instructional coaching to teachers or related groups.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Biology, science education or closely related field.
• Experience developing curriculum, preferably for online delivery.
• Experience developing and maintaining online professional learning communities for students and/or teachers.
• Eight or more years teaching experience in science or closely related content area at a college or high school level.
• Eligibility to serve as Instructor of Record according to The University of Texas at Austin departmental requirements.

Salary range is $100,000+ depending on qualifications.

Working conditions include:

• Travel throughout the state of Texas as well as ongoing weekend and evening work.
• May be required to work evening and weekends during critical times.
• Hybrid work environment.
• May work around standard office conditions.
• Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
• Climbing of stairs.
