Assistant Manager

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking an Assistant Manager to manage the laboratory operations and activities. The candidate would be responsible for providing efficient management, technical and administrative support for all laboratory teaching and research activities and to oversee the safety standards in the lab in compliance with ISO 45001 standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and oversee the operation of the laboratory in supporting the teaching and research activities.
• Manage laboratory resources to meet operational needs.
• Budgetary planning for the laboratory and ensuring procurement operations comply with the University's financial policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Laboratory asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.
• Provide teaching support for laboratory experiments and projects.
• Manage and maintain the equipment, robot systems, consumables, tooling and facilities.
• Conduct safety risk assessments for all equipment and processes.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Manufacturing/Computer Engineering.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, with 5 years' experience in a technical support role, ideally in mechatronics and robotics systems.
• Hands-on experience with industrial and mobile robotics systems, hardware, and software, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Good interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a university environment.
• Highly motivated and customers oriented.
• Good laboratory management skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of workplace safety including ISO45001.
