The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a position as Assistant professor focusing on nitrogen flows in agricultural systems. The position will be available from 01-09-2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a 3-year period. You will be part of a research environment focusing on soil biogeochemistry and fertility. You will be contributing specifically to the area of nitrogen flows, losses and emissions in agricultural systems, their quantification and modelling, as well as their relation to crop fertility and productivity. The main focus of your position will be on quantifying and modelling nitrogen leaching losses and their response to different mitigation strategies and management choices in agricultural systems. You will work experimentally with new and established field experiments, including long term experiments, which involve cover crops, reduced tillage, and different fertilizer application amounts and methods, among other things. This project aims to improve the evaluation of nitrogen losses in cropping systems by analyzing experimental results and carrying out process-based modelling. Additionally, you will apply your research findings to contribute to the Department's science-based policy support activities for the Danish government.

Shortlisting is used.
