Apply Applications are invited for a time-limited position (34 months) as Assistant Professor in legume transcriptomics and molecular biology at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, Denmark.
Expected start date and duration of employment: This is a time-limited position (34 months) starting from 1 Aug 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Job description: Your specific tasks will be to study faba bean transcriptional responses to allelochemicals and insects and develop a research program on faba bean – insect interactions. Your general tasks will consist of independent research of high international quality, including publication; teaching, guidance and examination of Bachelor's and Master's degree students, as well as possibly co-supervision of PhD students; contribution to attracting external research funding; and development of national and international networks and collaborations in research.
Your profile: We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a keen interest in legume biology that can solve problems independently and enjoys working at the interface between biology and data science in collaborative projects. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Experience with faba bean cultivation and bulk and single-cell transcriptomics is an advantage.

This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement.
