School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health at KTH
Subject field: NMR spectroscopy with specialization in material chemistry.
Subject description: The subject area of the position is NMR spectroscopy with specialization in materials chemistry. This includes advanced use and method development, primarily in solid-state NMR, to study hard and/or soft materials, including colloids, but also high-resolution NMR studies in liquids and NMR experiments using field gradients such as imaging or diffusion studies. Own experimental research on materials is an important part of the position. An important focus area of the work is such materials and material systems that are part of sustainable societal development, e.g. batteries and fuel cells.
The assistant professor is expected to conduct research at a high international level and develop an independent research group. The duties also include supervising doctoral students, research administration, applying for external funding and participating in education within the CBH school's undergraduate and graduate education programs. The position also involves a central role within the national infrastructure SwedNMR and a close connection to the WISE program for materials research. Collaboration with other researchers in other research fields is a central part of the position. The assistant professor is expected to assist and participate in the development of NMR activities at the department, which means overall responsibility for the operation of NMR instruments.
The assistant professor will be given opportunity to develop their independence as researcher and gain accreditation that may allow them to take other teaching positions with higher eligibility requirements (see Chapter 4, Section 12 a of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance). Following application, the assistant professor can apply for promotion to associate professor in accordance with Chapter 4, Section 12 c of the Higher Education Ordinance.
