The position is based at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö, in the Diabetic Complications unit at Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC), led by Professor Maria F. Gomez and within the strategic research area EXODIAB (Excellence of Diabetes Research in Sweden). LUDC is one of the largest diabetes research centres in the world with approximately 300 researchers and administrative and technical staff members working towards improved diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diabetes. A central theme at LUDC is to develop precision medicine to improve health and the quality of life of patients with diabetes.

The focus of this position is on cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome, characterized by overlapping type 2 diabetes (T2D), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and cardiovascular disease (CVD). CKM syndrome is a leading cause of premature mortality and healthcare burden globally. We are now looking for an enthusiastic and talented person to strengthen the Unit's expertise in data mining, artificial intelligence, epidemiology, public health, and systems medicine within the framework of precision medicine. We expect the successful applicant to have experience of programming, data analysis, and data mining to identify trends and produce meaningful data visualizations, as well as experience of working with different bioinformatics tools and statistical methods. The applicant is expected to leverage multi-modal data to identify biologically and clinically meaningful subtypes of CKM syndrome, establish their prognostic significance, and uncover predictive biomarkers for treatment response. The applicant is expected to have excellent communications skills and to want to interact with other researchers.
