Description of the workplace: The research group conducts research in the field of diabetes, particularly investigating insulin release and metabolism in insulin secreting beta-cells. For several years, the research has been one of the leading the field, with publications in internationally high-ranking journals. The group is led by Professor Hindrik Mulder and Associate Professor Malin Fex and consists of researchers and technical staff, based at CRC in Malmö. Work duties and areas of responsibility: The work duties include dissection of human pancreas and the use of PRISM (an instrument for isolating human pancreatic tissue). Furthermore, the duties consist of performing advanced scientific studies in the laboratory, differentiating stem cells into insulin-producing cells, culturing human pancreatic islets, as well as supervising students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers.

Qualifications: The position requires:

• PhD in medical research.
• Experience in islet cell research.
• Experience in isolating human pancreatic islets.
• Knowledge in transplantation of insulin-producing cells into experimental animals.
• Ability to culture and differentiate stem cells into insulin-producing cells.
• Published scientific articles.
• Experience presenting at national and international conferences.

Additional merits:

• Ability to measure metabolic parameters using Seahorse XF.
• Ability to perform western blots, RNA sequencing, and PCR.
• Ability to culture islet cells and clonal cells.
• Ability to perform immunohistochemical staining and use a confocal microscope.

Other information: The employment is permanent, with a preliminary start date of 1 June 2026 or as agreed. Full-time position (100%).
