We have an exciting opportunity for a Departmental Operations Manager within the Division of Medicine's Department of Imaging.
This role will be embedded in the Centre for Medical Imaging (CMI), working closely with the head of department, Professor Punwani, supporting the Department of Imaging, Division of Medicine at University College London.
The department consists of four centres:
The Centre for Advanced Biomedical Imaging houses state-of-the-art imaging technologies and is one of the most advanced biomedical imaging facilities in the world.
The Centre for Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry leads in the development and clinical translation of novel biomedical imaging agents.
The Centre for Computational Medicine is cross-faculty research drawing together research in physics, mathematics, computer science and medicine.
The UCL Centre for Medical Imaging (CMI) focuses on novel medical / clinical imaging.
Together, the department provides robust imaging research across the entire pipeline: from pre-clinical, through translational first-in-human studies, and culminating in large multi-centre pragmatic studies of high technology platforms within the NHS. Thereby, impacting directly on national guidance and patient care.
The position of departmental Operations Manager offers the successful candidate the opportunity to support key operations activities across the department, including supporting the head of department with diary management, booking and arranging travel, supporting events, providing secretariat services for monthly departmental meetings, while being involved in trial management.
This will give the role holder the opportunity to develop and hone their organisational and relationship management skills, maintain or build on their clinical trial expertise, and enhance their research knowledge.
The successful candidate will become a member of a busy, vibrant, diverse team, with the opportunity to learn and develop a varied skill set within a university setting.
This part time role will provide operational and project management support across all four centres of the department. The role will support the implementation of departmental strategy into day-to-day operations, acting as a central coordination point for cross-centre activities, as well as organising departmental events and providing secretariat functionality for the departmental strategy board. The role will include supporting the head of department's admin and diary needs, including booking flights, hotel and travel arrangements. The post holder will contribute to the early set-up and management of clinical research studies in the department (including regulatory coordination, costings, and grant support).
This post is for one year and is not suitable for UCL sponsorship.
Are you dynamic, do you enjoy variety, do you like to learn, are you good with people? If your answer is yes to all four points, then you should apply for this role. You will have experience in operations or project management, ideally within a clinical trials or higher education research environment, and a strong understanding of UK clinical trials regulations and governance requirements. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, and confident working both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
This part-time role is extremely varied, and can be office based (open plan office) or hybrid. It will require you to be able to cope with fast moving and often changing priorities. You will need to be a problem solver, with good analytical skills, good at taking minutes, chasing actions and feeding back to the committees you serve. Good communication skills both oral and written are essential. The role requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to deliver activities to agreed timelines, cost and quality standards.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working across the Division of Medicine. As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
