Location – This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
The Department of Physics at the University of Alberta invites applications for the Avadh Bhatia Women's Postdoctoral Fellowship.
The award is conferred to a woman who is a recent PhD graduate with a demonstrated potential for excellence in physics research. It was established by the late Mrs. June Bhatia in memory of her late husband, Professor Avadh Bhatia. The award provides a $60,000.00 annual stipend for a maximum of two years. The annual stipend includes 50% that must be provided by supervising faculty member(s) and 50% that will come from a spending allocation of an endowment.
The Department of Physics, the home department for this position, has approximately 48 faculty members with research interests in space physics, condensed matter physics, astrophysics, biophysics, geophysics and subatomic physics. The department has a wide range of infrastructure for physics experiments and access to high-performance computation.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will possess a PhD in Physics or a related field and conduct research in the successful candidate's chosen research area.
