We are pleased to begin accepting applications for the Center for Mental Health and Addiction Policy (CMAP) Post-Doctoral Fellowship. CMAP brings together researchers from across Johns Hopkins University to advance mental health and addiction services and systems across the U.S. Additionally, CMAP is committed to collaborating with community groups and policymakers to bring evidence-based guidance to decision-makers at local, state, and federal levels. CMAP's Post-Doctoral Fellow will, with support and mentorship, perform cutting edge research designed to improve health by addressing needs related to mental health and substance use.
The Fellow will be based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Department of Health Policy and Management, under the primary mentorship of a member of the Center's Leadership Team, or, another member of our Core Faculty, with fit depending on interests. The Fellow will support NIH- and foundation-funded projects that examine the impacts of mental health and substance use policies on access, quality, and outcomes of care. Current projects analyze the effects of insurance reforms, payment and delivery system innovations, and state and federal policy changes on treatment utilization and health outcomes. These projects involve a variety of rigorous methodological approaches, including causal inference, quasi-experimental designs, and the use of large-scale claims data and electronic health records.
The Fellow is expected to be highly motivated with a passion for investigating policy impacts and have strong analytic and writing skills. The Fellow may have a PhD in health policy, biostatistics, economics, or a related field, or an MD with research training in observational data. The position offers ample opportunities for mentorship in writing manuscripts and grants, the use of innovative methodological approaches, and participating in seminar series. Possibilities for leadership roles and teaching are also available. This fellowship is a one-year, full-time position, with a possible one-year extension based on progress towards goals. The salary and benefits will be commensurate with NIH standards.
The fellowship is scheduled for the 2026-2027 academic year.
