Mercor is seeking experienced Chemical Engineers to partner with a top AI research lab and contribute their domain expertise to the development of intelligent systems that understand chemical processes, system dynamics, and design reasoning. You will get an opportunity to apply your knowledge in reaction engineering, process optimization, thermodynamics, plant operations, or safety systems to train AI models that reflect how real-world chemical engineers think and solve problems. You'll work with AI teams to evaluate and improve model outputs across the entire lifecycle of process engineering—from lab-scale development to industrial-scale production.

Why you are a good fit

You are an ideal candidate if you:

• Have 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, R&D, plant design, or process safety.
• Hold a PhD in Chemical engineering or related field from a top US university.
• Have strong understanding of nuclear systems design, reactor physics, and related frameworks.
• Have strong attention to details.
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Role Highlights

• Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours.
• Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.
• Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension.

Compensation and Legal Details

• You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor.
• We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect.
