The University of Cambridge has identified cardiovascular disease as a major research priority, and this has been endorsed by the award of a British Heart Foundation Research Excellence Award of £5 million (2024-2029).
The Cambridge Bhf Centre Of Research Excellence (Bhf Cre) brings together a wide range of cardiovascular research groups across the University of Cambridge and affiliated institutions. More information about the Centre's aims and main research themes can be found on our website.
We are now inviting applications for a Clinical Career Development Fellowship or a non-clinical Career Development Fellowship. This fellowship is available for an outstanding postdoctoral clinician or postdoctoral researcher in basic biomedical science or disciplines outside traditional biological science, working at the interfaces of disciplines, particularly where adoption of techniques outside cardiovascular science can accelerate basic and translational research.
Only one fellowship is available.
The award will include full salary and £16.5K per annum towards other costs. The fellow will be supported to apply for additional funding and become competitive for external Intermediate Research Fellowships by the end of their fellowship.
Successful applicants will have a strong record of research and its communication in a relevant subject. The post holder will also need to be able to work independently as well as in active collaboration with multi-disciplinary partners.

For a Clinical Career Development Fellowship, the successful candidate will require an Honorary Clinical Contract with the relevant Trust.
Salary Non-Clinical: £37,694-£46,049 per annum Clinical: £38,831-£73,992 per annum (Clinical Nodal Points) – level of salary will depend on the NHS training level.
Funds for the fellowship will be available for up to two years from the commencement of the post.
