The Animal Resources Center at The University of Texas at Austin is looking for a clinical veterinarian to help maintain approx. 150,000 sq.ft. of research animal space. The Animal Resources Center is responsible for managing three centralized animal facilities as well as some of the smaller satellite locations, and the veterinarians have a duty to provide expertise and guidance to all segments of the campus-wide animal care and use program in an AAALAC-accredited university setting.

Provide clinical veterinary medical care for laboratory animal species. Provide guidance and clinical oversight to veterinary technical staff. Assist faculty with animal model development and animal research protocols.
Provide clinical veterinary medical care to a wide variety of research animals in compliance with federal regulations, industry guidelines, and UT policies, practices and procedures with a specific focus on colony health, quarantine and spontaneous disease.
Participate in the IACUC and perform related duties.
Provide guidance and oversight of clinical and husbandry activities within the Animal Resources Center.
Maintain appropriate programs of disease prevention and control commensurate with accepted protocols and regulations.
Supervise veterinary technologists.
Participate in and provide leadership for the AAALAC accreditation process and other programs that assure regulatory compliance.
Teach and train internal ARC staff, students, faculty and departmental staff involved with animal research.
Other related functions as assigned.
$140,000 + depending on qualifications
