Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is looking for a research technologist to work in the Histology Core Facility. This facility provides support for research programs at CSHL, primarily dedicated to understanding the cause and development of cancer with a special emphasis on animal models.
The successful candidate will join an experienced 4-person team that supports CSHL’s basic and preclinical cancer research by processing animal and human samples for histopathological analysis. We are seeking a highly motivated research technician who likes to learn the necessary skills and work at this interface.
Key responsibilities include: Performance of routine histology tasks in a highly reproducible manner and supervision of machine based automated workflows. Evaluation of the quality of stained tissue slides to be returned to researchers. Close collaboration with various cancer research groups and general laboratory organization.
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline.
Experience/Skills: General laboratory experience, including troubleshooting of results and laboratory problem-solving skills. Must thrive in fast-paced environment and pay attention to details. Must be highly organized, and able to multitask. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. General computer skills. 5 years of histology experience is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $47,250 – $57,349. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
