Doctoral Student in Medicine with Focus on Data-Driven Precision Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine, Lund University, is now announcing a vacancy for a position at the doctoral program and employment as a doctoral student within the Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology Unit.

The department conducts research on data-driven solutions in precision medicine, focusing on prediction of disease events, diagnostic subclassification, and therapeutic decision support within cardiometabolic diseases.

The doctoral program subject is medical science. The project will develop a data-driven precision medicine framework to identify and characterize non-canonical disease trajectories in type 2 diabetes and related cardiometabolic conditions, including downstream effects on cognitive function.

The main tasks of a doctoral student are to devote themselves to their doctoral education and therefore you will be both admitted as a student and employed at Lund University. The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Franks to plan, execute, and disseminate research related to precision medicine in multimorbidity, with a focus on cardiometabolic diseases.

General eligibility for education at the doctoral level is held by anyone who has completed a degree at the advanced level, completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are at the advanced level, or in another way, in Sweden or abroad, acquired essentially equivalent knowledge.

Special requirements for the employment are a master's degree or the equivalent of more than 240 credits in epidemiology, statistics or closely related fields, track-record in clinical medicine, particularly in low- or middle-income settings, particularly in Asia, clear evidence of training and research experience in areas related to precision medicine, competency in data analysis, with special emphasis on machine and deep learning methods, referencing software, and excellent written and oral communication in English.
