The Level C Academic will report to the Director of NCIG and will work collaboratively with the Deputy Director, senior NCIG investigators, external partners, and community stakeholders. The position requires a high level of autonomy and will involve national travel, including to regional and remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The Fellow (Level C) will be a key contributor to NCIG's national program of work, leading research projects that advance Indigenous-led genomic science, ethics, policy, and practice. The role requires a scholar with strong independence, a track record of high-quality research publications, and demonstrated success in competitive research funding. This position will play a central role in shaping interdisciplinary projects across the Centre's genomic, social science, ethical, educational, and community engagement portfolios. The successful candidate will provide strategic input into the development of new projects, contribute to policy and practice, and mentor junior staff and students.
The role requires an exceptional writer who can communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences, including community, policy, and academic stakeholders.
National Centre for Indigenous Genomics (NCIG) is a leading centre of Indigenous genomic research in Australia. The Centre, governed by an Indigenous majority board, was created to manage and expand a collection of historical Indigenous blood samples and to develop a research reference resource from the DNA in the samples for genomic health and medical research.
