This role will provide an opportunity to gain valuable laboratory management experience and interact with a wide range of researchers while supporting research projects across UCL. The post-holder will work closely with the Pathology TTP Manager in delivering histology services and collaborate closely with the UCL/UCLH Biobank for Health and Disease and the UCL/UCLH Cancer Biomarker Centre. This vacancy would particularly suit candidates aiming to pursue a career in biomedical sciences or translational research and who enjoy getting involved in all aspects of laboratory operations. Full training will be provided.
The post holder would be required to start at the earliest opportunity and work on-site during the facility opening hours of 9am-5pm Mon-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

The successful candidate must be willing to be vaccinated against Hepatitis B. Interviews will take place in person in March/April 2026 at the UCL Cancer Institute in London. The position is funded full-time until March 2027 in the first instance.
Successful applicants must have a BSc in Biomedical Science, or a related subject experience of working in a research laboratory and of providing a high-quality service to customers. Awareness of the regulations on the use of human tissue for research (Human Tissue Act), Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP), ethical approval and information governance are all essential, as it is the willingness to learn new skills related to histology and digital pathology. MSc in Biomedical Science or a related subject, understanding of how FFPE tissues are prepared, and understanding of the principles of Immunohistochemistry are desirable, but not essential, for the role.
