Intern – Application Scientist

The Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic student who is keen to participate in the development of the forefront technology applied to the electron microscopy field. The Intern – Application Scientist works at the intersection of the development, scientific community, and customer support. The Intern is involved in technical discussions, explores, and tests new solutions to enhance the systems capability, develops detailed in-depth understanding of the application of our tools.

This person collaborates with Applications, Technology, Systems and Software groups to ensure that product requirements are well understood, developed, implemented, and thoroughly tested.

Responsibilities

• Participation in advanced development projects.
• Gaining detailed knowledge of company systems with focus on applications.
• Testing of workflows, new system features and solutions, reporting the results.
• Contribution to scientific and other publications (applications notes, papers, conference proceedings).
• Demonstrates good independent judgment and thinking to develop creative ways or in selecting known methods and techniques for acquiring solutions.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as Bachelor or MSc student in a technical field.
• Curiosity about work on FIB-SEM instruments.
• Knowledge of optical microscopy as well as prior experience operating SEM and FIB-SEM systems would be beneficial.
• Familiarity with Python is an advantage.
• Competent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Result oriented, teammate, used to work in dynamic environment, flexible.
