The Marcucio Lab in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is hiring a Junior Specialist. This is a part-time appointment. Their work will focus on the role of Sox 2 in fracture healing. You will use mouse models and molecular and histological methods to assess the function of Sox 2 during fracture healing; specifically, the objective is to determine the extent to which Sox 2 directs chondrocytes to transdifferentiate into osteoblasts and/or stem cells during bone fracture healing.
The successful applicant will perform histological and molecular analyses in support of this project as well as perform surgical procedures on laboratory animals (mouse models) to generate the samples for analysis. Human tissues that were obtained from existing surgical specimens are also to be used for histological and molecular analyses.
