Junior Specialist Department of Dermatology
The Melanoma Molecular Discovery Laboratory investigates melanoma, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic vulnerabilities. Our focus includes the study of oncogenes, tumor suppressors, and genomic instability. This Junior Specialist position offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge genomics approaches and functional studies in a collaborative environment within the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at Mission Bay. The research projects are focused on melanoma disease mechanisms and involve culturing cell lines, quantitating mRNA and protein levels, CRISPR perturbations, and cloning. Applicants who intend to participate in research before applying to graduate school are encouraged to apply. The specialist will perform molecular biology (nucleic acid extraction, PCR, Western blot) and staining techniques for tissues and cells (immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, light microscopy, etc). The mission of the Department of Dermatology is to be a world leader in the care of patients with skin diseases through outstanding clinical service, education, training, and research.
