Applications are invited for a Laboratory & Cleanroom Technician to join the facilities of the Implanted Devices Group (IDG). This post offers a unique opportunity to support and contribute to the daily operation of the high-end research facilities within the Department of Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will combine strong organizational and communication skills with a keen interest in developing their technical abilities.
This is a fixed-term (maternity cover) role until 04/05/2027. Please note that the earliest start date for this role is 05/05/2026. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (including Mathematics and English Language and a Science subject) or equivalent or having acquired relevant experience. The applicant will have a profound awareness of Health and Safety requirements within a laboratory together with a practical interest in engineering. The ideal candidate will have a practical interest in engineering, strong problem-solving ability, and a careful, accurate approach to technical tasks. They should be confident supporting students and demonstrating safe use of tools and equipment, with clear written and spoken communication that makes technical information accessible. Good judgement, flexibility, and strong organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage their own workload, work independently when needed, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
