Division of Structural Biology, Building for Genomic Medicine, Roosevelt Drive, Oxford, OX3 7BN
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Laboratory Manager to support the effective operation of laboratories of the Division of Structural Biology (STRUBI). The postholder will provide expert advice on laboratory operations, health and safety, and equipment and reagent procurement and management, working closely with the STRUBI Senior Management Team, the HWB Senior Building and Facilities Manager (SBFM), the Laboratory Managers for the Centre for Human Genetics (CHG) and CAMS-Oxford Institute (COI), and academic and professional services staff within STRUBI.
You will also be required to ensure that the laboratories are maintained as a safe, clean and professional environment, to provide a crucial interface between researchers, University departments and external contractors. In collaboration with the STRUBI Senior Management Team and HWB Facilities Team, you will support the delivery of laboratory development plans, ensuring appropriate facilities and lab provision to meet the demands of world-leading research.
You will act as the designated building Departmental Safety Officer (DSO) for STRUBI ensuring that departmental safety plans and documentation are reviewed annually, revised where appropriate, and copies supplied to relevant central University service departments. You will monitor the working environment within STRUBI, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulation and OU policies, reporting unsafe, unhealthy or unsatisfactory conditions to the STRUBI Deputy Business Manager (DBM), Business Manager and Senior Building and Facilities Manager (SBFM).
It is essential that you are educated to A levels or an equivalent level 3 qualifications (such as level 3 NVQ; or national diploma), alongside experience of running a biomedical laboratory environment as well as implanting Health & Safety procedures, regulatory compliance and knowledge of Health & Safety legislation within a scientific workplace. You will have strong problem-solving capability, with the ability to maintain a flexible and collaborative approach.

Salary (£): Standard Grade 7: £39,424 – £47,779 with a discretionary range to £51,983 p.a. This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year.
