We are seeking a Lecturer, a role which is often regarded as broadly equivalent to an Assistant Professor, to join the School from 1 September 2026 on a permanent basis. The post-holder will be expected to conduct high-quality, original research and knowledge exchange; make an active contribution to the planning, development, delivery and coordination of learning and teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; engage in supervision and assessment at both levels; play a role in the development of the School's doctoral programme; and undertake administrative and management duties as required and supported by the Director. The post-holder will specialise in delivering teaching and assessment in Applied Economics, with a focus on Firms, Industries, and Innovation. They may also be required to develop and teach core Economic and Business courses, or courses with broader appeal, if needs arise within the relevant programme area. This role meets the requirements for a Skilled Worker certificate of sponsorship or Global Talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. You will hold a PhD in Economics or a related discipline, with postdoctoral research experience (or equivalent) and a developing record of internationally excellent publications. You will bring specialist expertise in Applied Economics, experience with large-scale data, machine learning and/or computational methods, and a clear, viable research agenda with ambitions to publish in high-ranking outlets. You will have the ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including areas related to business, technology, firm dynamics and innovation, and to support diverse student cohorts. Strong communication skills, excellent English, proficient IT skills (including virtual learning environments), and the ability to manage your workload and work effectively with colleagues are essential.
